Our committee is dedicated to reopening the last remaining pub in Loddiswell. As a group we come from a range of professions including a restauranteur, marketer, solicitor, accountant, photographer and various tradespeople. Read on below to find out more about each committee member.
Mat Prowse – Chairman
Mat, our fantastic chairman, is the Co-founder of Rockfish group who have 11 restaurants over Devon and Dorset! He’s an absolute restauranteur aficionado. Mat is also the founder of the the multi award winning restaurant The Seahorse in Dartmouth and boasts a wealth of experience in the hospitality business.
David Crockford – Treasurer
David Crockford qualified as a Chartered Accountant 25 years ago. He’s spent the last 15 years pioneering utility scale renewable energy projects across the UK and North America. He also likes a good beer!
Steven Came – Secretary
Steven Came qualified as a solicitor in 2006, and now works as a Consultant Solicitor from home but spends some of his working week in Exeter. He is able to bring his legal knowledge and skills to the team. Although he has only recently moved back to the heart of the village, his ancestors were farmers in Loddiswell in the 1800s, and his late father John Came retired to Loddiswell in 1988. Steven knows the Loddiswell Inn of old, and has fond memories of the pub. As Steven says ‘I have very little idea about running a pub but as a keen campanologist I go all over the country ringing church bells, and so I know a good pub when I visit one!’
Michael King
Michael after serving in the Navy in both The Faulklands and the Gulf moved around various jobs and worked for Malcom Barrett making up orders of fruit and vegetables and delivering to pubs shops and restaurants locally then took his HGV and then trained as a plumber. His latest venture is Neptune’s eco watercraft a water sports bike. Michael has been a keen advocate of good pub food and great beer!
Roger Pinder
Roger started at McMullen’s of Hertford, so early into the pub trade and spent many years running pubs in and around London and the Home Counties; Coach and Horse Waltham Abbey, Royal Oak Stevenage, Nags Head Covent Garden and Sibthorpe Arms. He moved to Loddiswell in 1998 to take over the Loddiswell Inn, with his partner, Sally. Although Roger is now retired, he’s still an active member of the community and is the Town Crier for Kingsbridge!
Andrew Gordon
Andrew has a background in Hotels and was Mark Warners European Winter Ski manager for many years. He is a big skier and sailor and works in property full time both in renovation and maintenance. He is currently working on a project on the local Church and on Court House.
Stuart Routledge
Stuart has forty year’s experience in senior management of Local Government. He’s a former CEO of a national London based Charity and has been Chair of a number of others in the Health and Care sector. Alongside Rodger, Stuart is looking into the possibility of grants far and wide.
Adrian Stephenson
Handyman in Property Maintenance, 2012 to present, all aspects of maintenance undertaken and brings with him wide variety of skills to the group, and future for the Loddiswell Inn. Prior to this he worked at a major software company as a systems administrator for European IT services 1994-2006, Promoted to IT services Support Manager for UK 2006-2012. Other skills in hospitality in his younger days as a Draymen, Barmen and Chef to name a few. Adiran loves to be outside and enjoys walking, Kayaking, SUP, Tennis and recent expedition has been to start the South West Coast Path!
Janice Gordon
Janice Gordon vaguely remembers working in Fleet Street for over a decade for both The Telegraph and The Mail on Sunday and You magazine. She moved with Andrew to the West Country and set up a property buying agency which ran for 10 years, she then opened up fashion shops in both Kingsbridge and Totnes. She now works at The Citizens Advice and is a marketing wiz!
Zoe Crockford
With a background in customer services, Zoë joined the committee in the hope of ensuring the pub offers the best customer experience. She is keen that the pub champions the produce of local businesses and upholds solid green credentials.
Zoe is an avid horticulturist and is keen to see the pub reflect new green measures and procedures.
Tia Bryant
The youngest member of our team, Tia, joined us most recently. With a BA Hons in Photography, having studied it at university, Tia is our in-house photographer! She’s also a marketing expect as she’s currently on the marketing team for a CIC called Visit South Devon who promote the area as a tourist destination as well as support local and independent businesses.
